The year and the job
Konami sets the game in 1499. Paris is on fire and full of monsters. Trevor Belmont answers a bishop and brings his daughter Rose. Rose's right arm carries Dracula's curse. Sypha Belnades, Rose's mother, is already dead. The ending conditions are not repeated here.
Dracula was beaten in 1476, returned briefly in 1479, and is active again in 1499. That spacing is 23 years after Castlevania III and 20 years after Curse of Darkness. The timeline page is the longer chart. This page is the cast.
Who has a page
Rose, Sypha, and Dracula each have a page because the searches are specific. The curse itself has a page so it is not confused with older Belmont folklore. Bosses such as Isaac, Carmilla, Medusa, Death, Joan, and Brauner are documented as fights first. Their story lines stay short: Isaac is a forgemaster with a grudge, and the rest are the guardians and the court you meet in the castle.
What I ran into
I wrote a plot summary that wandered into the final choice and deleted it. This directory is for someone who has not finished. The Sypha page warns you before it answers.
