Keys first, then the abyss

The catacombs stay shut until you hold The Fallen's key, The Warrior's key, and The Prophetess's key. IGN's chapter then uses Halo of Light to pass abyss shards. A bone dragon on the path breathes fire and throws fireballs. A Brave Heart sits at the Catacomb Entrance.

Death's story fight is at the Altar of Bones. Listed health is 20,000 and experience is 600. You do not absorb a card from this fight. The card and the double jump come from the later Choir fight in Notre-Dame.

Mammon is optional on the way through

Mammon, The Miser, is in Mammon's Lair. The door is the Gate of Flesh, and it wants the Thrilling, Trembling, and Oozing Eyes equipped. Listed health is 8,000 and experience is 1,000. He drops The Miser. The Antechamber of Sin is a real room on the ferryman path, but the exact chest inside it is not pinned down in the sources, so this page does not invent a loot drop.

  • Named sub-areas: Catacomb Entrance, Path of the Abyss, Jaws of Limbo, Throat of Hell, Circle of Greed, Quarry Elevator, Realm of Old Night.
  • Relics cited on this stretch: Mourning Bead, Specter's Whisper, Necro Charm, Ebony Claw.

What I ran into

I almost wrote a chest guide for the Antechamber of Sin because the search query is specific. The room name is confirmed. The chest contents are not. Leaving the loot line out was the whole point of checking the research notes before the paragraph.

Questions

Does the catacomb Death fight unlock double jump?

No. That fight does not give a card. Double jump comes from Death in the Notre-Dame Choir.

How do I open the Gate of Flesh?

Equip the three eye relics, then open the gate. Swap back to combat relics before Mammon.
