How to beat Brauner
The painter is Brauner
The Painter is Brauner, and the card is The Artist. The room is Brauner's Atelier in the Main Hall. Listed health is 4,250 and experience is 500. Rock Paper Shotgun describes the fight as slight. That is a tone comment, not a promise that you cannot die to it.
The card gives the Masterpiece spell and the Aerial Rush skill. He also drops Brauner's Paintbrush. Carmilla drops a paintbrush too, in the Library. You need The Artist card and a paintbrush together on the Notre-Dame painting in the Gallery of Eternal Night.
Answer the ability question completely
Searches ask what ability Brauner gives. The complete answer is Aerial Rush, the traversal skill, and Masterpiece, the spell. Naming only one of them is how the painting or the air dash stays locked.
What I ran into
I wrote 'he gives air dash' in a note and had to correct it the same hour. The card has a spell and a skill. Both are in the reward sentence now, in that order, so I do not drop one when I am skimming.
